About us
The Women's Section of the Royal British Legion is a membership organisation for women, with 1,030 branches and 49,232 members across the Bitish Isles and Overseas.
For over 85 years the Women's Section has been providing care and support for the ex-service community by means of various welfare work schemes. Our extensive welfare programme provides financial help to ex-servicewomen, wives, widows and the widowers of ex-service personnel and their children.
All of the money that we raise comes from our own benevolent work and this money comes from efforts of individual members within our branches, County and District fundraising events, donations and sometimes from legacies.
Membership of the women's section is open to all Women over the age of 16 including Women who are serving in H.M. Forces, ex-servicewomen, wives widows, mothers, sisters daughters and granddaughters of past and present servicemen and women.
In fact the Women's Section of the Royal British Legion warmly welcomes women from all walks of life and is not just for those with service connections. The Women's section prides itself on being able to provide enjoyment for sociable women who not only enjoy a sense of humour but who also enjoy fun!
Why don't you join us and enjoy a sociable organisation close to where you live. You can be amongst new friends having a good social time. All of the fund raising projects you take part in provide you with the satisfaction that you really are making a difference to someone else's life who is not so fortunate as you.
In the pace of today's world - What could be more rewarding than that?
Did you know that over the last 80 years our Care and Support services included...:
- Over 100 million people who were eligible for support from the British Legion.
- Our Welfare programme has endeavoured to improve the quality of life for many people.
- We have helped people to develop skills to find sustainable employment.
- We have helped an ever increasing number of people to live independently.
We would very much like to welcome you to the Women's Section of the Royal British Legion.
